A healthier heart
Common tips for a heathier heart we all know:- Eat a heart-healthy diet.
- Get active.
- Stay at a healthy weight.
- Quit smoking and stay away from secondhand smoke.
- Control your cholesterol, blood glucose (sugar), and blood pressure.
- Drink alcohol only in moderation.
- Manage stress
- Get enough sleep
Heart disease is a leading cause of death in the United States for both men and women. Much of it is in our control. Are we addressing it from the body, mind and spirit perspective?
Basic habits most people can regulate 1) eat fish twice a week, 2) limit saturated and trans fats, 3) choose healthy monosaturated fats , 4) choose whole over refined grains 5) Eat foods rich in potassium and magnesium 6) maintain healthy weight and waist size 7) Exercise most days of the week an fats. After these basics aren't enough.
Taking care of our mental health affects our heart, what can we do in this area of our life?
Some Christian practices may promote heart health include cultivating gratitude, hope, forgiveness and love health, Studies show those that indivuals who practice their Christian faith, handle stressful situations better. American Heart Journal says prayer helps heart.
