Pathway to Hope
This year during our spring call, we set a date for a fall meet up. Last month, she opened up more of her life and I shared mine testifying through the valleys and mountains, how Jesus has met me in my every need. We're growing in our relationship. At our meet up, I invited her to consider another space of information with me. That it's not her fault she has these mental health "issues" as the world calls them (depression, anxiety.....). Her faith didn't fail her. I bridged the space from spiritual to physical wholeness, and asked if she's ever felt off balance. She said absolutely, and she just doesn't like the meds. We talked a little about what plays into being off balance, she had heard of the term oxidative stress. She knew about toxins, hadn't considered the health of her mother during her birth, sleep cycles and the possibility of protein or nutrient deficiencies (daily nutrients, Deficiency connection protein deficiency connection)
I encouraged her to stick with her doctors prescriptions, and to consider some testing for any vitamin deficiencies, and a path that may lead to cellular restoration, and after a time, the doctor may have other comments about her dose or her meds overall. That perked an interest. Here's an article of the science on the NrF2 Pathway , highlight: The balance between oxidation and antioxidant is crucial for maintaining homeostasis. Once disrupted, it can lead to various pathological outcomes and diseases, such as depression. Oxidative stress can result in or aggravate a battery of pathological processes including mitochondrial dysfunction, neuroinflammation, autophagical disorder and ferroptosis, which have been found to be involved in the development of depression. Inhibition of oxidative stress and related pathological processes can help improve depression. In this regard, the nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) in the antioxidant defense system may play a pivotal role. Nrf2 activation can not only regulate the expression of a series of antioxidant genes that reduce oxidative stress and its damages, but also directly regulate the genes related to the above pathological processes to combat the corresponding alterations. Therefore, targeting Nrf2 has great potential for the treatment of depression.
I'd like you to know too, activation is life changing!
Oxidative stress is a key factor in depression. Activating the NrF2 pathway, is what's needed to reduce the oxidative stress. How do we reduce oxidative stress? We talked about how we nourish our body: Sun light, fresh air, good sleep, getting the right amount of nutrients at the right time of day, exercise, social connection, music, art, types of food reduce oxidative stress aiding our mental health. However this may not be enough for many of us.
Now that it's December in the Midwest, it's darker & colder, and for some people, mental health gets worse. How do we activate the NrF2 Pathway?
