Hope No Longer Deferred

September is National Recovery Month.  Are you celebrating a milestone this week, this month, this year?  Or maybe you have regrets, and are hiding in sorrow with a grip on today.

Recently, as part of National Recovery Month, I attended a gathering at our state capital, many agencies and ministries offering resources . I was there with a friend who's walking free and running a sober house, she was doing her thing networking in her zone.

I was thinking of my uncle, who 24 years ago this fall, passed away due to his addiction.  I was thinking of his kids and their 24 years without him. I was thinking of my dad without a brother.  I've never smoked anything, drank twice in high school before giving my life to Christ, and hated the feeling. For me, in adult life, sugar got me.

As we networked our way around the grounds, I was grateful.

Grateful that despite my uncles death, God gave me a passion for the hurting, a season to work at a recovery ministry for 12 yrs, plan events that educated pastors, encouraged volunteers, connected resources, do some intake. I met my husband, who's free in Christ for 22 yrs, he worked at the center for a season, he's mentored many men into their purpose in life, and I women, in our All Things to All mission life last 8 years, which flows through the recovery community.

I'm grateful to learn we are spirit, mind and body and the importance of understanding that in recovery.  For many years, I thought it was only a sin issue. Get right with Christ, get delivered of demons, learn your purpose and the result would be a life free of addiction.

I agree addiction is a sin issue, in part.  I agree that we open ourselves up to the demonic when under the influence or being deceptive etc.  I agree getting teaching and inner healing is necessary.  However, that's only two-thirds of the healing.  That covers the mind and the spirit.  What about the body?  While in treatment or support groups you may have learned or been encouraged to eat healthier and take care of your temple.  That's good.

So why do some people relapse?  Bad day (yes), unresolved issues (yes), could it also be a neurological imbalance, (yes!).

I'm grateful for neutrogenomics (what you eat influences how your genes behave). Certain foods are better at combatting oxidative stress, anti-oxidants, neutralizing harmful free radicals.  Making better choices, learning to take care of our body.  But often that's not enough. Our temple has been damaged.

The disruption in the balance between antioxidants and ROS (reactive oxygen species) leads to oxidative stress. For example, some people are deficient in nutrients and crave alcohol. Cocaine  use, can cause nutrient deficiencies  as can Fentanyl use cause deficiencies. In the case of an alcoholic, it can lead to fatty liver disease due to free radical damage.

I'm grateful for learning about the science of activation. The process of making an inactive molecule or receptor active within a signaling pathway.

I'm grateful that taking an activator caplet flips a switch in our body, activates the Nrf2 pathway, a cellular defense system that helps regulate the body's production of antioxidants enzymes (telling our body to make our own glutathione) therefore reducing oxidative stress, potentially extending life, giving us a hope and future. Three years ago, I was freed from the bondage of sugar.  My body and I still have a journey, but that battle was won through healing in my Spirit - Mind - Body.  I can walk through my kitchen without thinking of food. My brain fog is gone, I can focus on my day.

Addressing Spirit, Mind and Body, Restoration comes. Hope is possible!

Weather you or a friend have cravings, or want  more restoration in your temple, activation brings hope.  See the the MN Recovery Study Tab for that report & videos. For a free consult, see Contact page.  Once your questions are answered, and you've decided to start a life of activation, be encouraged that for everyone that reaches us, in recovery, your orders will benefit Lost Sheep Ministries.
